The Professional Golf Marshals Association (PGMA) is taking to the airwaves to promote its Membership Acquisition Program.
According to Jim Collins, CEO of the PGMA, the organization felt the best way to reach potential golf tournament marshals, course starters and volunteers was through a commercial that airs during programming of interest to golf enthusiasts.
The 60-second “Naked Guy” commercial was produced by Phoenix-based Spectrum Video & Film with the idea of being edgy enough to catch viewers attention and then visit the PGMA website to get more information about joining. The spot features a streaker at a golf tournament and the PGMA is hoping the tagline, “It’s good for the game,” will become a catch phrase among potential members.
The commercial was shot at San Marcos Crowne Plaza Resort Golf Course in Chandler and featured 35 extras provided by MovieWork Now casting agency.
“We were looking for something that would get people’s attention, but not distract from our message,” Collins said, adding that Spectrum Video delivered a product far beyond his initial expectations.
The creative team at Spectrum was led by Dave Ammons. “Their standard of professionalism is a strong statement to their industry,” Collins said. Also supporting the production of the spot were Magique Golf, f2Golf and Pinfire Golf.
The “Naked Guy” commercial will air on the Golf Channel and other sports related stations in late April. The commercial can also be viewed at the PGMA website www.PGMAgolf.com and on YouTube at

The PGMA’s mission is to enhance the game of golf through an alliance of golf marshals, golf course starters and volunteers trained in the area of golf rules, etiquette, pace of play, golf course safety and amateur and professional tournament play.
“If you have ever wanted to be a golf marshal, membership in the PGMA is a must,” said Collins.
