Concierge offers tips on making a vacation a fun trip

KITTY HAWK, NC – (APRIL 11, 2007) – According to a 2006 survey by Salary.com, the average mom works more than 90 hours per week, whether they are a working or stay-at-home mother.  For moms that are already wearing too many hats, adding vacation planning to the to-do list can add more stress.

“With everything a mom has to do daily, when will a mom have time to track down a great kid-friendly rental, or find the baby equipment - cribs, playpens, beach umbrellas, exersaucers – plus continue with their daily activities?” says Ivy Haynes, president and owner of Outer Banks Concierge. “After all, shouldn’t a vacation be a vacation for mom too?”

Haynes offers the following tips to busy moms looking to plan for their vacation without the stress:
1.   Plan & prioritize exactly what you need and when you need to do it by.  “A few minutes of organization in the beginning will ease the planning process,” says Haynes.
2.   Break large jobs into smaller ones and do them step-by-step. “Don’t get overwhelmed by big tasks. Make them into bite-sized chucks you can tackle daily,” she says.
3.   Reward yourself. Plan a suitable reward for completion of a job or task.
4.   Give yourself permission to quit. “Sometimes it’s better to get someone else to do the ‘dirty work’ and get the job done than waste hours of time doing something that is getting you know where,” she explains.
