Adrienne Lumpkin, Alternate Access president and director of marketing, will speak at two April events – women’s leadership symposium at St. Augustine’s College and small business panel discussion through Wake County Public Libraries.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Apr 11, 2007 – RALEIGH, N.C. – Adrienne K. Lumpkin, Alternate Access® president and director of marketing, will speak about her success as a woman business owner at two events in April.  Lumpkin’s experiences will motivate both current and future entrepreneurs at a women’s leadership symposium hosted by St. Augustine’s College, and a small business panel discussion hosted by Wake County Public Libraries.

“I am honored that I was asked to speak at both of these valuable educational events,” said Lumpkin.  “Starting a small business and enabling it to thrive is no easy task.  Events such as these provide entrepreneurs at all stages of business development access to firsthand knowledge of the ongoing process of maintaining a small business.”

On Friday, April 13, Lumpkin will serve as a panelist at the 2nd Annual June Kay Campbell Women in Leadership Symposium at St. Augustine’s College.  This year’s theme, “Women Empowering Women through Mentoring and Networking,” will be heard in a variety of panel discussions throughout the day, beginning at 8 a.m., with topics ranging from women’s health to economic empowerment.

Lumpkin will be one of three speakers during the Women in Business panel discussion, held from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and will give a 15-minute presentation focused on marketing alternatives over the course of your business life cycle.

As part of National Small Business Week, Lumpkin will also participate in a small business panel discussion on Monday, April 23 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cameron Village Regional Library.  The program, entitled “Women Entrepreneurs Tell All! Triangle Business Success Stories,” will feature four local women business owners.  Each will provide a 20-minute presentation, with Lumpkin sharing the story of her business’s evolution and how she met and overcame specific business challenges.

Following the presentations there will be time for audience discussion and networking.  The program is one of four in a Small Business Week at the Libraries series that will be hosted at Wake County libraries throughout the week.

Lumpkin co-founded Alternate Access, a leading provider of converged communications solutions, with her husband, Kelly, in 1993. A graduate of Harvard Business School, Lumpkin worked for 20 years in various marketing and management roles at IBM and Hewlett-Packard prior to co-founding Alternate Access.  Her company has been recognized both locally and regionally for entrepreneurship, innovation and staying power, winning four Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle awards, three North Carolina Tech 50 awards and a Deloitte and Touche Tech 500 Award.
