Caravanners looking forward to the first road trip of the year will find it easier to get away this Easter weekend thanks to an upgraded service from the highways agency, reports cover4caravans.co.uk.
More than half of all major roadworks have been completed or suspended, aiding the thousands of enthusiasts heading off on long weekend breaks with their caravan in tow. Rather than enduring hours of traffic jams caused by lane closures, dozens of routes have been cleared of work men and repair equipment in time for the annual Easter exodus.
“This is the first opportunity of the year for many people to air the caravan and spend a relaxing weekend away without the stress of rushing back to work on Monday morning,” says cover4caravans director, Richard Burgess.
The Highways Agency has responded to the Easter getaway by shelving roadwork activity for the duration of the break. It has also promised immediate incident support vehicles on site to clear roads for holidaymakers.
Twenty-nine repairs on key routes across the country have been completed, making it easier for cars towing caravans to get to popular holiday sites and caravan parks across Britain. A further twenty two works have been suspended in order to ease congestion on the main network.
“Although road users will notice less congestion on the routes normally affected by repair and maintenance work, roadworks will still be in place at forty four locations for safety reasons,” advises Burgess.
