Designed for use in vehicles with visible cargo areas, such as utility vehicles (e.g. SUVs, X/CUVs), station wagons and mini-vans, the CORVUS box is so distinctive that it has a U.S. utility patent and a Canadian patent pending.
The convertible CORVUS box provides “out of sight, out of mind” security by way of an attractive, locking storage box. While this in itself is not unique, the CORVUS box provides a secondary level of protection with its ability to transform, from a storage box into a bed liner, to shield the interior of the vehicle’s cargo area from being soiled when transporting a potentially messy payload. Market analysis has indicated that the CORVUS box, with its distinguishing functionality, will be well received by consumers as it addresses two specific issues with one product.
The box is made of a durable, easy to clean plastic, and is available in 17 colours. It is also lightweight, weighing only 20 pounds when empty. The dimensions of the CORVUS box are approximately 30”W X 18”D X 12”H (6,480in3) as a storage chest and approximately 30”W X 48”D X 6”H (1440in2) when expanded to a bed-liner.
The final form of the CORVUS box has been years in the making. Consideration was given to the most suitable process for manufacturing, selecting the appropriate materials and hardware and sizing of the box so that not only would it have an almost universal fit, but so that its weight and size could be easily managed by most individuals.
