Reeves County to Save $1.35 Million in Choice Energy Deal

April 5, 2007 - PRLog -- HOUSTON, TX – April 5, 2007:  A ten year fixed-price electricity supply agreement has been concluded by Reeves County, Texas, and was announced today by Javier Loya, Chairman and CEO of Choice Energy, a Texas firm which provides consulting on energy procurement and management.  

“This new energy solution provides our customers a stable electricity price, a long term source of electric power, and achieves measurable savings,” said Loya. “The ten year contract adds a new dynamic to the options currently available to retail consumers in Texas.”

The ten year contract is projected to save Reeves County $1.35 million over the term of the agreement based on prevailing rates in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas.

Reeves County’s agreement is with Champion Energy, a retail electric service provider serving commercial and government entities throughout Texas. Champion Energy was selected through a “Request for Proposal” process prepared and administered by Choice Energy’s consulting group.

With the recent announcements of a major ERCOT generator, the future landscape of wholesale supply in Texas is uncertain.  Retail users are increasingly considering the possibility for long term certainty in supply as well as price.

“Budget certainty often determines the number and quality of services we can deliver to our citizens, and Choice Energy took the time to understand the needs of Reeves County in a very complicated area,” said Sam Contreras, Reeves County Judge. “The electricity supply agreement we have signed with Champion Energy Services certainly fulfills our requirement for price certainty at a desirable rate, and we believe this long term contract represents the type of management and vision our citizens expect from me and my fellow Commissioners.”
