NEW YORK (Apr. 5, 2007)— A Chinese publisher has acquired the rights to the iUniverse book Vlad Dracula: The Dragon Prince. According to author Michael Augustyn, publisher Shanghai 99 Reader’s Culture became interested in his book after speaking with publishing veteran Judy Klein of Kleinworks Agency in Missoula, Montana.

“I was very interested in selling the foreign rights to my book,” Augustyn said. “iUniverse referred me to agent Judy Klein, who solicited various publishing companies and ended up sparking the interest of Shanghai 99 Reader’s Culture.”

Vlad Dracula was originally published with iUniverse in December 2004. The Chinese edition of the book will retain the same title and content, and is scheduled for release later in 2007.

“A good story told by a gifted storyteller knows no boundaries or borders,” Klein said. “Michael’s novel had already been sold to an Italian publisher, and now with China taking notice, we expect even more international opportunity.”

Michael Augustyn lives in Philadelphia with his wife and daughter and is currently working on another novel. After earning degrees in history and political science, he spent seven years researching Vlad Dracula, a real 15th century warlord. The book, a historical novel, closely follows Dracula’s life, from his struggle to win his throne, through his valiant war for independence and resurrection from captivity. For those who may only think of Dracula as a bloodthirsty vampire, the true story will be very surprising.
