About Megève
Megève is a famous ski resort in the Alps, dating back to 1913. It started its development in the 1920s when Baronne Noémie de Rothschild opened her first major hotel in 1921, after becoming disenchanted with St. Moritz as a skiing resort.
By the 1950s Megève was one of the most popular ski resorts in Europe, and attracted many celebrities. As well as Megève itself, the skiing area also includes the Combloux, Cote 2000, and Les Contamines resorts.
The resort has a skiable area of 8 km², and an uppermost point at 2350 m. The first three World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held here in 1976, 1977 and 1978.
Oberstdorf is the partner town of Megève in Germany. It is also located in the mountains and it is famous for making summer and winter holidays.
