FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Apr 03, 2007 -
Duncansville, PA, April 3, 2007. -- An Earth Day Contribution does not require one to organize an event for the public, or even attend a group function if that is not feasible.  The Earth Day Everyday Cleaner Kit Project is a choice that an individual can make, creating a measurable
contribution to the environment.

Vicki Zerbee, Shaklee Independent Distributor, and organizer of the Earth Day Everyday Cleaner Kit Project states, "What is very significant here is that every person, every family, even daycare centers and schools can participate, plus they can realize some personal benefit themselves when they contribute."

The environment benefits because every Cleaner Kit that is purchased is the environmental
equivalent to eliminating 108 pounds of packaging waste from landfills, eliminating 248 pounds of greenhouse gas, and planting 10 trees.  "That is quite significant for just one Cleaner Kit," Zerbee emphasizes.

In addition, there are healthy benefits to the personal environments where these products are used.  Zerbee points out that if one were to purchase a Cleaner Kit, the items inside of it would replace many products that are currently in the home or facility that contain harmful toxins and chemicals.  There are several issues to look at when comparing items such as cleaning products.  There is safety, packaging, and performance.

One's home should be the safest place on earth, and yet toxic chemicals that originate from common household cleaners and other products are found in many homes.  In fact, women who work at home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer as a direct result of the increased exposure to toxic chemicals found in household products.  This is based on a 15-year study presented at the Toronto Indoor Air Conference.

An average home generates over 25 pounds of toxic, hazardous waste each year.  Much of this waste can be attributed to household cleaning products.  The EPA says that only a fraction of the more than 75,000 registered chemicals have gone through testing for human health concerns.  More than 9 out of every 10 suspected poison exposures occur at home with household products.  These are some scary toxic alerts.

Many cleaning products on the market today are not concentrated.  For liquid products this
translates to an active ingredient plus water to fill the container.  People tend to use these
products generously and before long it is time to purchase a new bottle.  These bottles add
up over time and over households, and fill up our landfills.  Concentrated cleaning products
save this waste since you purchase one bottle of cleaning concentrate that lasts for a much
longer time.

Efficacy is an important consideration.  "A safe product is desirable but it must get the job done,
it has to work" said Zerbee.  To be tested next to some major brands that people have purchased for many years, and be proven to work as well or better, plus be green and safe, is a powerful testimony.

Earth Day is now a worldwide event.  Folks all over the planet strive to find a worthwhile
contribution.  "I think the key here is that we need to find contributions that can last for more than one day per year.  We can really make a difference if our choice is something that benefits the environment every day of the year.  To me, that is a real and measurable contribution"  claimed Zerbee.
