The recent press release of The Times of India on bulletproofs for Vidhana Soudha follows:
Seven bulletproof guard houses will be installed on the Vidhana Soudha premises, Bangalore in the next two months.
The police needn’t run for cover if Vidhana Soudha is ever attacked, like it happened at parliament. Bangalore Police are installing bulletproof guard houses around Vidhana Soudha to house seven guards each to ensure round the clock protection of Karnataka’s seat of power.
CRPF personnel scurried for cover when five terrorists breached the Parliament House’s compound. Bangalore police don’t want this to ever happen. They are drawing up a blueprint to guard Vidhana Soudha, which house the offices of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, ministers, secretaries and both Houses of legislature. In a month or two, seven bullet resistance guar houses will come up around not these buildings. Tenders are being floated to procure four guard houses at a cost of around Rs 4 lakh in the first phase; three will follow in the next.
These guard houses will be near Ambetkar Statue, Vikas Soudha, Gopala Gowda Circle and Devaraj Urs statue (near Legislator’s Home entrance). Seven guards armed with SLRs can stay in each of them.
“They will have small openings (on all four sides), from which the guards can open fire at terrorists, “DCP (Vidhana Soudha) Lakshman Singh said.
Such Guard houses have not been installed anywhere in the country, including Parliament House.
The Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai has a similar; albeit smaller, one on its premises, The Vidhana Soudha poice is procuring these bunkers from an Rs 2 crore budget allocation.
Apart from these, they are installing an X-ray machine to screen files and other material carried inside the building, a state-of the art CCTV system and body scanners to check visitors.
The police are also procuring SLR automatic weapons, Night and day vision binoculars, bulletproof jackets, and hand-held metal detectors.
