PR Log (Press Release) –
Mar 29, 2007 – Virgin Wines have been auctioning off cases to the highest bidders in the style of Name Your Price. On day one of the new campaign, cases were sold for just £4.
Visit www.virginwines.com/
goonameyourprice today (05/03/07) and you’ll find a mixed case worth £74.88 up for bids. There’s no minimum price, no catch, no tie in – just name your price and if you’re one of the top 10 bidders you can buy the case at the price you bid, plus £5.99 p&p.
Founder and CEO, Rowan Gormley says, “We wanted to put some fun back into buying wine and I think our Name Your Price campaign has hit the spot. We’ve had some great feedback and customers seem to be really enjoying themselves. There’s no con here – these wines are from our current stock and many are long standing customer favourites. The first few days saw ridiculously low bids and the first case went for just £4! Since then the average bid has crept up to about £30. Most days we loose money on these cases, some days we make a little bit. But that’s OK – you can’t always put a price on keeping your customers interested.”
Virgin Wines will be running the Name Your Price campaign for the foreseeable future. A new case will be available every weekday.
