Flame Run celebrates “Women in Glass”

Stephanie Trenchard, Laurel Hagner, Karen Willenbrink-Johnsen, Meredith Masser headline show that includes seven Louisville artists

LOUISVILLE, KY  – Flame Run contemporary glass art studio and gallery is celebrating women glass artists with “Women in Glass,” an exhibit that features the work of nationally recognized artists and their local counterparts from June 1 through July 28.

     “Flame Run wants to celebrate the growing number of women who are exploring the art of contemporary glass,” said Flame Run co-owner Susie Slabaugh.

       “I love to see the sensitivities to emotion and passion in so many women’s glass art.  I see an awesome reflection and celebration of the global interconnection of women”, Slabaugh said.

      Stephanie Trenchard, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, will demonstrate sculpting and glass-casting techniques at 6 p.m. on June 1. And Laurel Hagner and Gallery Director Naomi Stuecker will offer a kiln casting workshop on Saturday, June 2, and Sunday, June 3, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    The exhibit also will include the work of several other local artists including Slabaugh, Naomi Stuecker, Devyn Baron, Amy Pender, Casey McMains, Tiffany Ackerman and Jeanne Joseph.
