Merck KGaA, Pfizer and AstraZeneca to discuss Text Analytics in Europe

Merck KGaA, Pfizer and AstraZeneca are set to speak about the value of text mining for the pharmaceutical industry.

PRLog (Press Release)Mar 27, 2007 – Merck KGaA, Pfizer and AstraZeneca are set to speak about the value of text mining for the pharmaceutical industry. They are also confirmed to take part in a pharma round table which will discuss how text analytics have become indispensable from R&D to manufacturing and distributing and the future technologies.

Whilst Sophia Ananiadou, from the National Centre for Text Mining (NaCTeM) will be speaking about the text analytics tools and services for biomedicine that will have the biggest impact; Merck KGaA will explain how they use advanced visual analytics to make faster decisions which deliver required information in a record time and how automatic mapping are applied for analysis of intellectual assets.

The Pfizer team will speak about how the scientists’ job is facilitated using text mining tools which are easily integrated into their everyday work. Similarly, AstraZeneca, in a joint presentation with Linguamatics, will explore how existing knowledge contained in ontologies are used to get best results out of their unstructured data.

The discussion and round table will take place at the European Text Analytics Summit, (Amsterdam 26-27). The event brings together numerous vertical industries that use text mining to take advantage of unstructured data. The pharmaceutical and biomedicine applications of the technology are one of the significant deployments.

Other companies that will be getting on stage to speak about how they deploy text mining tools in their day to day business at the event in Amsterdam 26-27, are the likes of European Police, The Dutch Police, Alessandro Zanasi, independent advisor to the European Commission Security Research in the security vertical; Cisco Systems, Philips and HP in the technology industry; Telecom Italia, Deloitte and University of Nebraska.
