ComponentOne Europe Unveils New Version of Doc-To-Help

New Integrated XHTML Editor and the First Authoring Tool with Office 2007-style Look and Feel Complete with “Ribbon-style” Navigation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 24, 2007 -
ComponentOne Europe today unveiled an exclusive preview of the next generation of Doc-To-Help (code named Thunderbolt), a single-source Help authoring tool that empowers authors to create HTML or Microsoft Office Word content and convert it to virtually every popular Help file format (including browser-based, platform independent Help) or printed documentation.  The future of Doc-To-Help is being unveiled at the WritersUA conference, where conference attendees will get an exclusive look at what will be known as the most innovative user-interface in the Help authoring market.

The new version is significant because it positions Doc-To-Help as the industry’s first authoring tool to implement a Microsoft Office 2007-style look and feel, and the first to include “Ribbon-style” navigation elements.  The new user interface for Doc-To-Help also includes other important features including a built-in XHTML-based editor, allowing authors to create content in an easy to use WYSIWYG editing environment while continuing to benefit from the powerful Help features and Help outputs Doc-To-Help is known to provide.  Other new technology will include productivity tools, such as a convenient topic grid for quick topic editing, a visual related topics editor, and drag-and drop link creation.

“This version will mark two major milestones in delivering Help authors and technical writers the most streamlined and efficient user experience available anywhere,” said Chris Geiger, MD of ComponentOne Europe. “The Ribbon toolbars put all of the Doc-To-Help features right at your fingertips, while the built-in XHTML editor helps ensure that your content conforms to today’s Web standards.  Of course, we will also continue to allow our users to use any editor they wish.  ComponentOne’s mission is to develop software people love to use and this next generation of Doc-To-Help is no exception”

ComponentOne plans to release the new version of Doc-To-Help including these exciting new technologies – and more, during the summer of 2007.  If you would like to participate in the Doc-To-Help beta program, please send an email with your intentions to d2hbeta@doctohelp.com.
