Cagney & Lacey Canceled Again

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - In a move reminiscent of the show’s history, Cagney & Lacey First Season DVD’s were canceled, or “postponed” according to a representative at MGM who now owns the series. No further date or information was available. The reason? Someone forgot to get music clearance.

The first season DVD set was scheduled to be released in time for Mother’s Day, now its future is uncertain:

“We’re hoping that the fans will step forward one more time to save Cagney & Lacey; last time they brought the show back from cancellation, this time we hope they can help us get the first season DVD released,” said series Executive Producer Barney Rosenzweig, referring to the national grassroots letter-writing campaign in 1983 that saved the groundbreaking show.

So what’s the show’s future? “Much like in the past,” says Rosenzweig, “this might be up to the fans.”
