FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 12, 2007 -
Cinema tops the entertainment Media. During 1950-1980, hit movies depended on heroes and songs for their success.  After 1980 most of films ran for 100 days or more even without established heroes. In the early days of the cinema people did not care much for directors but were fascinated by heroes, heroines, songs and music. Today, however, the director has taken the centre-stage and films are viewed for direction alone.

The directors are actually the backbone of the film because they visualize the film in entirety and decide the pace and action of the movie.

Among the movies released for Pongal 2007, Manirathinam, the veteran film Director, has penned the story, written the Screen play and directed Guru. The film deals with a man’s desire for ambition and success. Guru is the first Indian film to be projected digitally within India.

"Pachaikili Muthucharam" directed by Gautham is the next movie in which Sarath Kumar teams with Gautham for the first time.  Harris Jayaraj, who has given several hit songs, scores the music. Gautham stands an outstanding director generally gives prominence to villains in his movies like Jeevan in Kaakha Kaakha and Daniel Balaji in "Vettaiyaadu Vilayadu". "Pachaikili Muthucharam" has an off-beat story line and is running successfully.  In this film also Milind Soman is given a prominence. Jyothika is moulded very well in the movie, as we can see her in a different style compared to her other movies.

Superstar Rajnikanth starrer, Sivaji, is the most expected movie of 2007. This movie is directed by the much admired director Shankar and music is by the great ARRahman. Shankar is among the best directors in the film industry and is widely appreciated for high quality of work. He has given block buster movies creating social awareness through entertainment in commercially successful movies. He uses, in all his movies the latest visual technology and technical expertise which capture the imagination of the viewers. Naturally, Sivaji is expected to be a Mega hit.

Yet another film to raise audience expectations is Padmashiri Kamal Hassan's Dasavataram directed by the famous Director K.S. Ravikumar.  Both are experienced artists of the movie industry, and have already worked in "Avvai Shanmugi" which is both an entertaining and a successful movie. K.S.Ravikumar is capable of directing both commercial and action movies. There is great expectation from this movie as both can produce humorous characters and humorous situations which result in greatly entertaining movies.

Yet another movie to raise high expectation is Naan Kadavul directed by Bala. The film is based on the holy town of Varanasi. Bala is known for successful movies starting from Sethu, Nanda and Pithamagan. He was bold enough to shoot the first scene of Pithamagan in the Graveyard, casting aside superstitious
conventions. The film was a big hit and Vikram won the national award for best actor. Vikram's powerful performance was possible because of Bala's splendid direction. Naan Kadavul is also expected and created an impact.

Surya's brother Karthik’s debut movie "Paruthi Veeran" is directed by  Ameer, who also moulded Surya’s character with a difference in the movie "Mounam Pesiyathey".  Ameers directions stand out in the films. "Raam" is a good example in which he has portrayed a boy who was obsessed with his mother.  "Raam" was screened at Indian Panorama and later at the Cyprus International Film Festival (CIFF), where it won two awards - the Best Actor award for Jeeva and the Best Musical Score Award for its Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja. Ameer’s film with the new comer Karthik in the lead “Paruthi Veeran” is therefore running successfully.

Bheema, with Vikram in the lead directed by Lingusamy, who also has several hits to his credit like Run and Sandakozhi. Bheema is also likely to create an impact on the audience. The Director will provide an entertaining film with action, glamour and dance.
