RFID Expert metraTec Presents Multiplexer Product Family with up to 16 Antenna Ports

PRLog (Press Release) – Today metraTec RFID Solutions (www.metratec.com) announced a family of RFID multiplexers with four, eight and 16 antenna ports for HF and UHF applications. With seven different product versions, metraTec has the world’s largest product spectrum for RFID multiplexers. The devices are meant to enable users to easily set up complex RFID systems like RFID shelves or antenna arrays for location tracking at low cost. The products presented are compatible with all readers on the market independent of reader brand. Special emphasis was placed on simple control of the antenna ports and a robust electronics design based purely on semiconductors. All product versions are available as of today.

The decision to develop a series of multiplexers was taken based on extensive experience in RFID system development, which was the core business of metraTec so far. “In our project based business we repeatedly needed multiplexers with many antenna ports that were compatible with the readers available on the market. In the end the economic feasibility of many RFID projects depends on being able to connect multiple antennas to one reader since readers are usually the most expensive components. Our multiplexer product family is the result of this experience.” declares Klaas Dannen, responsible for RFID systems at metraTec. If everything works as planned the multiplexer product family will not be the last product announcement by the company - the next product for RFID is already being planned.

The company has a distribution agreement with Meshed Systems GmbH (www.meshedsystems.com), who acts as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for metraTec since October of 2006. “With Meshed Systems we have found a partner who has been active in the RFID business for many years and has the experience and competence necessary to consult our customers in technical questions” says Mr. Dannen.
