With 100 support entries and still counting, the Blogger Power: Safeguard the Web for Children project is “nothing else than a global initiative to encourage sites hosting adult content to help keep minors out by adding a simple registration gateway and taking demo videos off the home page”.
Initiated by Jon Harmon of Force for Good and Mihaela Lica of eWritings – Online Public Relations, the Blogger Power: Safeguard the Web for Children campaign started to be successful after Ilker Yoldas challenged a response from the blogosphere by initiating a meme. Positive responses come from many bloggers of note such as Liz Strauss, Graywolf, Yvonne Russell and many others. The support logo designed by Evie Milo is already displayed on many blogs and you are welcome to use it on your website as well if you want to show your support.
As any other campaigns of the kind, there are some controversial reactions, however not so many negative, and that because the campaign, as stated on the official Blogger Power website http://bloggerpower.wordpress.com/
Whether this campaign will really determine the porn webmasters to delete the free tours or not, it’s yet to be seen. Fact is, the responses so far demonstrate that united bloggers can be a potent force.
