Bishop Fernando Rodriguez, the organization's president, has now asked 2008 Presidential Candidate and Knight of Bonaria to aid in this humanitarian cause. Bishop Rodriguez looks forward in working with Mr. Imperato with minorities and minority issues in NYC and inner cities throughout the USA. "I urge the people of this country who believe in this organization and their efforts to lend a hand and support this organization. They were there for the people of New York during their time of need in 9/11; now it's their time of need," stated Imperato.
L.A.C.A originated amid the World Trade Center tragedy where their chaplains provided help to those coping with the traumatic events of 9/11. They continued their efforts by extending their reach and helping the families of those in American Airlines flight 587 fatal crash.
Imperato urged all people from the US and around the world to help support this organization.
On the prospect of working with Imperato, Bishop Rodriguez had the following to comment, "I look forward to working with Mr. Imperato with minorities and minority issues in NYC and inner cities throughout the USA--especially in NYC where the dropout rate is high. LACA wants to provide free tutoring to all kids to help them excel in the curriculum. Mr. Imperato has a big heart and cares for people and their issues. ‘He has a great “grass roots approach’ that makes a difference in helping organizations like LACA and people in the community."
Currently, L.A.C.A. has 3,000 chaplains in their worldwide network, with over 1,200 in New York City area. They work with the Police Department and Fire Departments, as well as with correctional, and rehabilitation programs, to provide personal and spiritual support concerning, stress, anxiety, grief, depression, and other life issues. Their newest programs that they are looking to launch is an alternative sentencing plan with NYC and NY State Corrections, job placement for the unemployed, growing GED education out of our churches and chaplains locations.
For those wishing to donate to LACA please send all checks to LACA, 1112 Garrison Avenue, Bronx, NY 10474. LACA is also available by telephone, 718-842-8555, and via the World Wide Web at, www.lacastateofny.org.
