The trip has been organized by the Federacion Mexico Unido, a Los Angeles based group that encourages cultural and historical exchange between Mexico and Mexicans living in America.
Jorge Fernandez, President and Founder of the Federacion Mexico Unido, felt that it was important for the young people to understand Mexican bilateral exchange.
"These teenagers are the new generation that will be in charge to solve the issues that will define our bilateral Mexican-US agenda. This can only be done by starting now at an early age by learning values of justice and equality," stated Fernandez.
The group of teenagers will go on a week long excursion that will take them through many of Mexico's historic landmarks in addition meeting many of its political and social leaders.
"I believe that it is important for these young people to learn more about and understand their cultural roots in Mexico. This is a great opportunity for these young people and I hope that they fully understand the opportunity that has been given to them," stated Imperato.
When asked about the prospect of meeting with President Felipe Calderon Imperato commented as follows, "I look forward to meeting President Calderon. I believe that there is an opportunity for great collaboration between the United States and Mexico. Mexico is our neighbor to the south and its about time that we develop the relation between Mexico. I know that President Calderon shares the same vision and wants nothing but the best for US and Mexican relations," stated Imperato.
The educational tour will last from March 5-11.
