Amman, Jordan (February 2007)- Participants gathered for the Corporate Social Responsibility Forum “Duty or Way of Life”, a joint initiative by the Greater Amman Municipality and TRACCS Jordan.
The opening ceremony included speeches, which were given by H.E. Mr. Omar Maani, Mayor of Amman, and Mr. Mohammad Al Ayed President and CEO of the TRACCS network.
During his speech, Mr. Maani conveyed her Majesty Queen Rania’s regards and communicated the fact that he is present on this occasion on her behalf Speaking in more detail about the forum itself Mr. Maani said” We at the Greater Amman Municipality feel that it is our mission to create an overall modern outlook and image for Amman. Through this forum we therefore wish to shed light on the public and private sectors roles as well as the role of the media and what it does to promote CSR.
From his end, President and CEO of the TRACCS Network, Mr. Mohammed Al Ayed said “I would like to thank our sponsors and our supporting partners LGE, Savola Group from KSA, the Middle East Complex, Design Jordan, Wanadoo, and Visa International for helping make this event a reality. The CSR Forum to us is a great accomplishment, and through it we hope to consolidate joint efforts between ourselves and other relevant parties to see a changed outlook on CSR on the ground. This is the goal we hope to achieve not only in Jordan but throughout the region”
The ceremony concluded with a screening of a movie by Nadia Eliwat , a film student through which she highlighted the responsibilities that fall on artists who use art to get important messages across/ and the great responsibilities artists have initiate change.
