Tiscali's basic package will offer an alternative to Sky plus with a ‘Replay or Catch-up’, service allowing subscribers to watch 50 hours of TV up to a week after broadcast. They will also have access to a further 100 hours of on-demand TV and can access over 1,000 pay per view movies. Tiscali’s UK Chief Executive Officer Mary Turner states "We're offering the widest and broadest content. It's far greater than BT's service and they've been working on it for two years,"
The new service is delivered by standard telephone landline and will not require cable or a satellite dish to installation. Future plans include a HD enabled set top box in July with personal video recorder.
