The Bahamas Pro Show is the premier sports operator in the Bahamas and lobbied for the championships to be held in the Bahamas.

The Bahamas have been home to several well known professional basketball players including former Los Angeles Lakers star Rick Fox from the NBA.

The North Atlantic Basketball Championships have already received commitments for a United States team and a Bahamas team.
In addition, teams in Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico have expressed interest in participating in the championships.
After the championship, the Bahamas national team will participate in an exhibition tour that will take them to the United States.
The NABC is preliminarily scheduled to take place during June 28-31st. and will incorporate sports, entertainment, and celebrities to attract spectators for the event.
