February 23, 2007– Fort Lauderdale, FL – Ever wonder about how you can apply your creative artistry and ideas to develop the look and feel of a new video game with your name in the credits? Want to build a playable game but also learn about the business, modeling, prototyping, texturing, lighting, and scripting skills? Is a future in the video game design industry what you want to do everyday? The game design industry is booming and ready for new “players.”

“We are using The Unreal Engine® a widely used engine for next generation games to fulfill the need in the electronic and digital game market,” says Monty Clark, Game Art & Design Program Chair at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.  “Our program and carefully designed curriculum, based on the real world and steered by industry professionals, teaches students how to build playable games with The Unreal Engine® rather than just modifying existing games. They script it, model it, rig, animate it, and light it. By the end of the program, students have built up to four playable game levels based on their own design. Some of the companies hiring our graduates are Electronic Arts Games, Day 1 Studios, Blizzard, N-Space Games, and Nintendo of America.”

In addition to Clark’s 10 years experience in the game industry, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale faculty are professionals in the field who give hands-on instruction.  Their experience as artists, animators, and directors  includes working with AWE Productions, Nickelodeon Studios, and MTV Latin America on games such as Spongebob Square Pants, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Scooby Doo Too Monsters Unleashed, Shrek II Activity Center, Spiderman II Activity Center, and Cartoon Network’s Kids Next Door. And what a place to explore creativity in Fort Lauderdale with the miles of beaches within walking distance, great weather, national sports teams, water sports of all kinds, international flare, festivals, attractions, and so much more!

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale recognizes the interest of students who feel passionate about going into this field, therefore, the college’s bachelor’s degree program in Game Art & Design trains students in the business, modeling, prototyping, texturing, lighting, and scripting skills they need to pursue their future. They learn leadership skills, teamwork, and how to brand themselves in the market – essential business skill sets for developing a long and successful career.
