Drawing inspiration from all these, as well as from the movie ‘Smokey’ and the ‘Bandit’ and the whole atmosphere of 1970s, Maximillion Cooper revived the spirit of the old races in the summer of 1999 by combining the racing elements with nightly parties and layovers at luxury hotels. The Gumball 3000 has since captured public attention through celebrity participation and coverage on everything form CNN, MTV and the BBC to Esquire and a George Gurley from Vanity Fair, who rode with 2003 Winner Alexander Roy through Morocco on the 2004 Rally.
This year Gumball starts on April the 29th from Pall Mall in London. It then goes to France via the Euro tunnel, Belgium and finally Amsterdam, where celebrations of the Queens Day will start taking place with thousands of people partying at the streets! From there, the 150 luxurious cars will drive to a secret airport in Frankfurt, where they will get on board in order to fly to the Asian side of Istanbul in Turkey. The team will drive through the busiest street of Istanbul, namely Bagdat Street and get ready to set off for Thessaloniki and Athens in Greece for their national day on the 1st of May. In Athens, a White Party will take place at the Hilton Hotel, while the next day the team will get ready to head for Bratislava, Slovakia and then Berlin, Germany for a fantastic check point at Brandenburg Gate! Gumball participants are expected to be back home in London on the 5th of May, after a week of European touring and exciting experiences in around 10 countries.
Eye Candy Media will support the Gumballers and enhance the Fan Zone of the event by placing 10 screens at the most prominent locations at the heart of the above mentioned cities and by entering a car at the event as well. Live feed will be broadcasted and Eye Candy’s exclusive international clients will be promoted. Millions of people will be able to view the rally from the Eye Candy Media LED screens and the world’s media front pages will host Gumball 3000 once again.
The Gumball and Eye Candy Media partnership is a fact. The countdown for the rally has started and the waiting is over!
