'Grandparents Rights' A huge boost.

Campaign for grandparents to obtain automatic legal rights of contact receives a huge boost from Townswomen Guid.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb 17, 2007 -
The Townswomen's Guild Head office Birmingham has just sent us their Grandparents Rights Campaign pack fully supporting our campaign. Of:-

1) The role that grandparents play in active family life and childcare.
2) The legal rights of access for grandparents.

They have 40,000 members UK wide and are a very powerful lobby for change. This is a tremendous boost for us.

We at Grandparents Apart are in the process of contacting pensioners and other older peoples groups to form an alliance in procuring better rights and recognition for older people in general. ie. better pensions, health treatment, housing, crime against older people, grandparents rights to their grandchildren. Not to use the opportunity of this alliance would be crazy because of the voting power we have in the politcal situation we have at present.

Older people are fed up being treated as second class citizens cast aside as old fashioned especially when the country is going to rack and ruin with the so called modern approach where family values that held us together have been eroded.

There are varying reports of hundreds of thousands of children in danger in drug and alcohol related homes on the UK and the family justice law system is totally unfair. The governments of the UK can only say "we have no answer to it" Unicef has just produced a damming report that the UK is last in the list of 21 countries in the welfare of children. The social service was created to help people but now it is feared as much as it’s namesake SS of Germany’s Nazism in its treatment of children’s welfare. The criteria used to be ‘The best interests of the child’ which has been replaced by cost, how cheaply can they do the job to win the huge bonuses that are being awarded for keeping costs down. It is all very well cutting costs but not at the expense of ruining children’s lives who are our future citizens.

Rather than all the university educations which is revered nowadays, we should be paying more heed to the training from the university of life’s qualifications which older people have gained due to experience using it to restore traditional family values.
