FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The new illustrated guide to "Jamestown 2007," the 400th anniversary of the founding of America on a tiny marshy island on the James River in 1607, sold out its first printing with more than 5,000 orders received in the first three days of publication. See a free 10-page preview of the book and buy it now for $15.95 at Jamestown2007.2freedom.com

The 8-1/2" x ll" 164-page guide and pictorial keepsake was written and illustrated by a top team of travel professionals and photographers, including three past presidents of the prestigious Society of American Travel Writers with a forward by the former Director of Communications for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

The book defies conventional publishing wisdom that a travel guide should be written and marketed at least 9 months to a year before the featured year. Using the latest print on demand technology, the Business Scribe, Inc. of Williamsburg, Virginia, produced "the last word in Jamestown 2007 guides" in three months and published it in January, 2007. According to publisher statistics, an average of 100,000 books are published annually and only 1 percent sell more than 5,000 copies. "Jamestown 2007" reached that yardmark in three days, thanks to orders from bookstores and major corporations.

"Jamestown 2007" uses some new techniques to make the history of America's 400th anniversary come alive for the readers. If features a "Dear Baby Alice" diary of William Laxon, a carpenter from Lincolnshire England who came with the 104 men and boys who landed in Virginia in 1607. The book asks the question, "What if a 1607 settler had a digital camera?" and answers it with a series of full page pictures taken by Tom and Michele Grimm, authors of one of America's best selling photo guides, the "Basic Book of Photography."

Jane Ockereshausen and Hal Gieseking, who between them have authored more than twenty-five travel and business books, researched and wrote the text. that vividly describes all the major new attractions and events of this special anniversary year in Virginia - including the new archeology museum at Historic Jamestown, America's Glory Gallery at Jamestown Settlement with 17th century life size restorations of a London street scene and an African village, the new Griffon - world's tallest dive coaster at Busch Gardens, the battle of Merrimack and Monitor at the Mariner's Museum, Revolutionary City at Colonial Williamsburg that has boosted visitation by 6 percent - and much, much more.

This book will be reprinted throughout the year as new details emerge about the anticipated visits of Queen Elizabeth, President George Busch, Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher and other diginataries and new events are added by various Virginia communities. Travel organizations and other corporations can customize this book with their own messages and sell it on their website, in effect, have customers pay to read their advertising.
