Both teams have had similar paths to the last 16 in this year's competition, overcoming Championship sides in both previous rounds. Fulham required a replay to defeat Leicester in round three before a comfortable 3-0 home win against Stoke City.
Meanwhile, Tottenham also needed an additional third round game to progress past Cardiff City, before easing past Southend United 3-1 at White Hart Lane. That draw in the Welsh capital was the third consecutive away FA Cup tie that Spurs have failed to win, having exited the competition at Newcastle (0-1 in 2004/05) and Leicester (2-3 in 2005/06) in the past two seasons.
Fulham and Tottenham have been paired three times in the FA Cup, with the north Londoners progressing on every occasion. Each of those wins came at home for Tottenham with Fulham only avoiding defeat in one home game before succumbing in the replay.
The sides have already met twice in the league this term with both games ending in draws. The most recent encounter came on January 20, when a late Pascal Chimbonda goal rescued a point for the visiting Spurs side. Chimbonda's strike was the first away goal scored in games between the two teams in the last three seasons, and ended a run of four consecutive wins for Fulham at Craven Cottage.
Fulham have scored nine goals in their FA Cup campaign so far, with Brian McBride and Vincenzo Montella bagging three apiece. Italian forward Montella has quickly established himself as an important member of the Whites' squad and given all of his goals so far have come either in the FA Cup or against Tottenham he is well worth backing in the goalscoring markets.
Tottenham have had seven different goalscorers for their eight FA Cup goals, with only Robbie Keane putting the ball past both the Cardiff and Southend goalkeepers. Tottenham's line-up is never the easiest to predict so awaiting the team sheets may be prudent before backing any individuals on Sunday. However, the FA Cup is notorious for throwing up classic storylines and following a less than warm reception in the Premiership game, Steed Malbranque will be very keen to guide his new employees past his former.
With Fulham's recent dominance at home to Tottenham, the visiting sides best chance of progressing may well come in a replay back at White Hart Lane. The pair of draws between the teams already this season suggests that both sides know each other well enough to cancel each other out and a repeat on Sunday looks the most likely outcome.
