Current Obsession With Increasing Fuel Economy Is Proving Boon For Manufacturers Of Turbochargers

Mumbai, 16th February 2007: Mumbai based distributor Bharat Book Bureau has come up with their latest offering on the automotive industry in India titled “Global market for automotive turbochargers”.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Feb 16, 2007 – The current obsession with increasing fuel economy and lowering emissions is proving a boon for manufacturers of turbochargers and superchargers. The technology has developed significantly since the 1980s when turbochargers had a hot-rod, boy-racer image and were often unreliable. Since then, much of the developmental push has come from the European market, thanks to the popularity of the diesel engine.

Technically, there remains the problem of turbo-lag - which creates an unpopular time-lag for performance drivers - although turbo makers are working hard to overcome this. Variable geometry turbines have helped, but the problem will not be solved unless engine-driven superchargers are used, or electrically powered 'e-boost' devices are used. However, the first e-boost devices are close to market, and will be launched on vehicles in 2005.

Turbocharged gasoline engines will also play an increasingly important role in helping OEMs meet future fuel economy regulations. Although not as fuel-efficient as turbo diesel engines, they offer many other advantages such as lower emissions, lower fuel consumption and high customer acceptance.

This exclusive report reviews the key market drivers for turbochargers for both the passenger car and commercial vehicle markets, providing some forward-looking analysis.

This is a comprehensive study addressing the key issues

This Global market for automotive turbochargers: 2005 edition report addresses a number of topical issues facing the turbocharger market, including:

- How will boosting technology evolve through this decade?
- Who is leading the turbocharger markets and how are their positions changing?
- How can these players respond to regional turbo boosting market opportunities if the focus is on globalisation?
- What are the opportunities for turbocharging in the emerging market?
- Who is supplying into these markets? How are they doing it? Who with? Who to? From which location?
- What is driving the development of gasoline turbocharging technology?
- Are the issues for gasoline turbocharging the same across the world for OEMs?
- What will be the key technological developments in gasoline boosting?
- With different regions having different priorities, can there be a truly global approach to gasoline boosting?
- Where are the greatest opportunities for gasoline boosting?
- What are the implications for the turbocharger aftermarket?
- Examines every major market, providing 25 detailed market share pie charts

In addition, this second edition of Global market for automotive turbochargers provides detailed market share analysis of the turbocharger market in Europe, North America, South America, Japan, Asia, South Korea, India and worldwide. All in all, this Global market for automotive turbochargers: 2005 edition report provides no less than 25 detailed market share pie charts, providing unrivalled market intelligence.

Who leads the Indian turbocharger market? How will the South Korean diesel turbocharger market change and who will lead it by 2010?

Detailed market installation, volume and value forecast data through 2010

It also provides detailed analysis of turbocharger market volume, value and forecast data and interpretation through 2010 for passenger car and commercial vehicle applications. The forecasts for OE volumes and values in this report are not extrapolative - based simply on trends - but dependent on the underlying drivers of supply and demand. Our estimates are supported by interviews with experts at components manufacturers and OEMs across Europe, North America and Japan. How fast is the European gasoline turbo market growing? What will the market look like in 2010? Who will lead it?

If you are looking for detailed market analysis of the global turbocharger market, addressing the key issues facing the industry with a useful round-up of the main manufacturers' business activities, this report provides it. Competitively priced, it builds on the popular first edition extending the analysis, region by region, for both passenger car and commercial vehicles, examining how the sector is shaping up.

It includes analysis of the major competitors in the turbocharger segment, including revenues and product service offerings. The manufacturers themselves include:
BorgWarner - Holset - Honeywell Turbo Technologies - Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI)
