Hotel Connections Corporation Owner and CEO, Rick Golden was recently approached by Jane Bokunewicz, an Instructor at Drexel University and asked to address her Hospitality Information Systems Classes because of his first-hand, in-depth knowledge of the industry. Mr. Golden delivered two presentations to junior and senior students from Drexel’s Hospitality program, all majoring in Hotel Restaurant Management or Culinary Arts. To address the E-Commerce section of their curriculum, he spoke about Internet technology, citing specific examples from his company, Hotel Connections Corporation (http://www.HotelConnectionsCorporation.com) including the innovative reservations systems they’ve developed and how they directly compete with Travelocity, Hotels.com, Expedia, Hotwire, and Priceline with their deluxe class room reservations, golf tee time reservations, restaurant reservations, and tour packaging.
When asked about being requested to speak to Drexel’s Hospitality students, Mr. Golden stated, “I was honored to speak to these fine young groups of aspiring tourism professionals and only hope that they will be able to apply some of what I said to their future careers.”
Following the presentations Golden received a thank you note from Bokunewicz which read, “Thank you so much for your informative lecture on the Internet for Hotel and Restaurant Marketing. It really opened a lot of the students’ eyes to what is involved. Although they use the Internet everyday, they often do not realize what goes into making it an effective tool. I learned a lot from your lecture as well. I have had other speakers before on the Internet but none had such a good grasp on the business side and what is needed for a hotel or restaurant to be successful.”
