PRLog (Press Release) –
But more than likely, it will be coming to a theatre near you first. “Running on Fumes?” is an alternatives fuels documentary which explores the feasibility of the new crop based fuels that everyone in Washington hopes will reduce America's dependence upon foreign sources of energy.
Ethanol is a clean-burning fuel that is primarily produced from corn. In other words, ethanol is grain alcohol. According to the Renewable Fuels Association, as of November 2006; 107 grain ethanol biorefineries in the United States have the capacity to produce 5.1 billion gallons of ethanol per year. The President hopes that number will eventually increase to around 35 billion gallons a year by 2017.
Does America produce enough corn for that much ethanol? Many experts say no. Filmmaker Jack LeFeber says viewers may be in for a surprise. “Through the course of filming, we’ve come across very recent research in Molecular Biology and Bio Sciences that literally blew me away. Some of this research has yet to be explained to the public,” LeFeber said.
In addition to ethanol, the film also studies the feasibility of other renewable fuels such as biodiesel and hydrogen fuel cells. Can these fuels siphon the U.S. of fossil fuels? “For that answer, you’re going to have to go see the film,” he said.
“Running on Fumes?” is scheduled to be completed spring 2008.
Jack LeFeber is Executive Producer of Esper Images Video & Multimedia Producers, LLC. a full service media production company, based in Milwaukee, WI.
