The Catman Project continues to champion those underappreciated individuals who we believe should be today's primary heroes: firemen, nurses, police, paramedics, soldiers, teachers, and so forth. After 9/11, John Ondrasik's song, SUPERMAN (It's Not Easy), became the "unofficial" anthem best representing the feelings of those who place themselves at risk daily in order to maintain the oft precarious societal infrastructure. The song captures the vulnerability, insecurity, despair, and doubt that afflicts these impressive individuals in a world that expects them to be strong and fearless "supermen/superwomen" even as it undermines their stature via subsistence wages; facilities cutbacks/closures; and intolerable work hours. In doing our special version of this touching song, the Catman Project salutes these super-heroes once again and hopes we can inspire greater empathy and respect for the invaluable roles they perform ensuring that we "can all sleep sound tonight."

"Some things just don't make sense anymore: if society pays a young songwriter royalties on a single creation until the day he dies, then why not pay a fireman equivalent royalties in perpetuity for his own "act of art," namely the extinguishment of a single, major fire in which many lives are saved?"
