FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) – THE PRINCIPALITY OF MONACO’S LEADING FILM EVENT
Monaco Charity Film Festival
CELEBRATES Its 2nd YEAR
Paris… 19 January 2007

Monaco May 14 – 19 2007 H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco will play host to the country’s foremost cinema event when The Monaco Charity Film Festival celebrates its 2nd anniversary. Plans are afoot to ensure that this year audiences and guests will be treated to the best that independent cinema has to offer from international film makers together with the opportunity to participate in all number of special events.

With galas and premieres presented both at the Casino de Monaco & Hotel de Paris the Festival will attract the leading lights of independent cinema with directors, actors, writers and other creative talents heading to the world's most exclusive capital city. It is truly a Festival that is looked forward to by industry and audiences alike.

One year ago, in May 2006, the first Monaco Charity Film Festival opened with a screening of Syndey Lumet’s masterly “Strip Search”, setting the tone for a festival that proposed to present the best of contemporary independent world cinema to an international audience. For seven days the Casino de Monaco was packed with audiences enjoying works from directors including Oscar Torres and Chris Kriesa and actors such as Maggie Gyllenhaal and Bai Ling.

This year the Festival has grown in scale and stature and whilst retaining all the elements of the initial festival idea, this will be matched by a desire to show genuinely new discoveries, bringing to Monaco premieres of previously unseen new films. And while the Festival continues to be an event that attracts sizeable public audiences it will also developed a strong presence of national and international press and industry delegates.

“Our 2nd anniversary is without doubt a significant year for us,” comments Festival Founder and Board Member, Vincente-Andres Zaragosa , “we will be marking the occasion with events, publications and activities across Monaco. We will also be taking advantage of our birthday to take stock and plan for our future. We are fortunate that our festival takes place in such a culturally dynamic Principality, and one that lies at the heart of international financing. With this in mind our intention is to ensure that the festival continues to consolidate its position as a vibrant world-class event.

“Our spring dates mean we are ideally placed to provide a valuable European platform to launch new independent films, including high profile award contenders who have inspired the latest generation of film makers. Alongside these we will continue to champion our founding principles of a diversity of work of real quality from unknown and emerging talents. Fiction features, documentaries and shorts will all find a receptive home and enthusiastic audience in Monaco. And whilst our festival is not truly competitive, our awards for best film, best director, best actor and promising filmmaker supports the film makers of the future.

“We are looking forward to working with a title sponsor and with all our other sponsors and cultural partners, whose contributions are crucial to our sustained development. With their help, we will meet the needs of our attendees whilst strengthening our relationships with the creative film community at home and abroad. Monaco in May will provide a focus and a meeting point for all those who are interested in the most imaginative and original that world cinema has to offer. “
