(RALEIGH, NC) -- The Other Edge, Inc., a product design studio in Raleigh, will present its first self-generated product, the Hold-N-One® golf bag holder, during the Carolinas PGA Section’s 14th Annual Merchandise Show in Myrtle Beach, SC, to be held February 25-26, 2007 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Hold-N-One® is a wall-mounted device that recently gained distribution by Carolina Custom Golf stores in North Carolina. (Screws and anchors are included in the packaging.) Through a simple spring-action motion, it grabs the mouth of a golf bag to keep the bag firmly upright.
According to designer Donald Corey, principal of The Other Edge, Inc., and an avid golfer, 90 percent of a golf bag’s weight is above the center of gravity, which is why it can fall over so easily. Hold-N-One® solves that problem and allows golf bag storage to consume minimal space.
The Carolinas PGA Show is promoted extensively to more than 2,200 PGA golf professionals and buyers in North and South Carolina. Attendance is expected to exceed 1,800, according to Show sources.
“We’re certain Hold-N-One® will appeal to both women and men,” Corey said, “because it saves space and the money you’d have to spend on new clubs and bags when they’re ruined. Besides, golfers hate tripping -- or worse, driving -- over their clubs!”
Corey is presenting his new product to the national market at the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, this month.
Donald Corey is president of The Other Edge, Inc. and Assistant Professor of Industrial Design at Appalachian State University. Hold-N-One® is his studio’s first self-generated product, which means he created the initial idea, patented it, had prototypes made, and financed the manufacturing.
Corey, whose heritage is Australian, successfully introduced his product in Sydney in August during “Workshopped ‘06,” part of Australia’s premier design festival, which promotes emerging Australian designers and facilitates commercial relationships between designers, producers and buyers. Swingmaster Golf.com is now distributing the product throughout Australia, Asia and Europe.
