UPS and US Markerboard are on the same “whiteboard”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Holbrook, MA – January 10, 2007 – It’s kind of ironic that as UPS rolls out their new advertising campaign explaining what “UPS” can do for you on a whiteboard, US Markerboard the leading online whiteboard distributor, rolls out their new offering of ‘Same Day Shipping’.

Meeting the ‘everybody wants everything yesterday’ scenario is becoming a standard in
today’s marketplace. What’s different is that US Markerboard is offering ‘Same Day Shipping’ on Magnetic Whiteboards that measure up to sixteen feet long. Not as easily obtainable if you choose to shop their competitors. And the competitors that do offer similar services tack on additional fees that are exorbitant. Other products currently available through the ‘Same Day Shipping’ program include Traditional Free Standing Reversible Boards and Natural Cork Bulletin Boards. This program is a ‘first’ for US Markerboard tailored to meet customer’s tight deadlines and last minute additions.

“Same day shipping is not something revolutionary”, says Scott Newman US Markerboard CEO. What is new is the ability to move sixteen foot whiteboards out the door the same day they are ordered.” Inventory controls have changed dramatically over the past ten years, where we have gone from having everything in stock, to having just-in-time inventory or ‘building on demand’ and having no inventory. “If you asked a manufacturer to stock sixteen foot whiteboards, 5 years ago, they would have laughed in your face. Now, if you don’t have the ability to get it out the door quickly, someone else will.”

Mr. Newman realizes that most manufacturers have their “primary” items that they keep in stock for quick shipment. Usually quick shipment is 2-4 days plus delivery time. What Mr. Newman is pushing the manufacturers to do is realize that inventory turns are what makes a business grow. “Manufacturers sometimes need help seeing the forest before the trees. There is a manufacturer that will not ship more than six boards on a quick ship. Why? Because they fear that there might be too much demand for their product and they won’t be able to fill the orders. Mr. Newman’s answer, Make more!”
