Performance Gear Systems, Inc. has purchased a Hofler ZP260 Analytical Gear Checking Machine. This robot gear checker has the ability to check pitch, run out and other dimensions that simply can not be measured on conventional equipment. This service is being offered to their current customer base, and is also going to be used for in process inspections. It is unique for a plastic gear manufacturer to have this capability. Normally, this level of inspection is reserved for ground steel gearing. Ed Jedlicka, QC manager for Performance Gear, says "Having state of the art inspection capabilities is a way to differentiate our company from offshore and domestic plastic gear manufacturers." The equipment was placed in service in December of 2006 and has already proven to be an asset to the company and its customers.
