Jan. 5, 2007 - PRLog -- New Jersey based anti-adoption organization, Adoption: Legalized Lies has created a line of t-shirts and buttons in support of an Ohio family who claim their youngest member was unfairly taken by an adoption agency. The organization will be donating all of the money raised to the Bennett family to assist with their legal fees.

Young mother Stephanie Bennett was introduced to A Child’s Waiting adoption agency by her high school guidance counselor. The agency allegedly persuaded her to run away from home in order to surrender her infant daughter, Evelyn, without involving the baby’s grandparents.

Now, the entire family is fighting for Evelyn’s return.

Adoption: Legalized Lies volunteer Sandy Young spoke with grandparents Ranza and Judy Bennett on January 3rd. Young says, “They have custody of the baby. All they need is an address to pick up their granddaughter.”

According to a December 31st story in the Akron Beacon Journal, A Child’s Waiting refuses to disclose Evelyn’s whereabouts.

The Bennett family is facing a potentially long and arduous legal battle. Adoption: Legalized Lies is not a wealthy organization. “But our volunteers are determined and devoted,” says founder Jessica DelBalzo.

The organization added a selection of t-shirts and buttons to its existing Cafepress.com store Friday afternoon. The shirts read, “Stop the Adoption of Evelyn Bennett.” The buttons: “Send Evelyn Home.”

Young and DelBalzo say they are hoping to raise awareness and funds for the Bennetts at the same time.

The Adoption: Legalized Lies web site states that coercive practices are common in adoption. Young says she expects the Bennett case to have a real impact on future laws that will protect mothers from being pressured to surrender their babies.

Supporters of the Bennett family can purchase t-shirts and buttons at http://www.cafepress.com/antiadoption/.
