DATELINE: NORWELL, MASS… For many folks who are dating or in a relationship, Valentine’s Day becomes a day of reckoning. What you do, or don’t do, will certainly be remembered. Here is your chance to make your feelings known to that special someone you are dating. For those already involved in a relationship, it’s an opportunity to make your good relationship even better, or, improve upon a “rocky” relationship.

With more than 30 years experience as romance coach in addition to being the CEO of the world’s largest personal introduction service, The Right One and Together Dating, Paul A. Falzone shares Valentine’s Day tips for the romantically challenged.

“What it all boils down to is being bold. Express yourself, show your feelings, and go out on a limb for that special person in your life. Actions speak louder than words, so find a way to show him or her you care; you’re interested; you’re there,” explained Falzone.

Falzone shares:

Listen and pay attention. As Falzone reminds, “We all have two ears and one mouth. It’s important to use them in that order.” Listen to your significant other. Whether s/he is talking about the work day or her/his dreams, show that you’re interested. Make her/him feel important, because, bottom line, they are important to you.

Go out of your way. This may sound simple, but it’s not easy for some folks to completely put their needs and wants aside. Take the time and make the extra effort to do what your significant other likes. Go out of your way to cook her/his favorite spicy Indian dish. Does she have a favorite color? If so, find a cashmere sweater in that shade. If your honey loves golf and you notice his golf club grips are worn out, make the effort and go to golf pro to see what you can do about it.

Come to her/his rescue. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. If your strength is her/his weakness, then help your sweetheart out. Is she technologically challenged? Install that new photo software for her; set up her iPod, computer, DVD player or other electronic. Take the time to make your significant other’s life simpler. And, if you can’t do it, find someone who can. Either way, your mission to help is accomplished.

Creativity and personalization is key. This goes back to the first point – listening to your significant other. Since you have paid attention, you now know what s/he likes. Use this information to give her/him a gift that really says “you’re special to me”. Download his favorite songs. Stand in line to get great seats to see her favorite music group, play or show. Give him sporting event tickets and tell him to go out with his buddies. Arrange for flowers to be sent to her or a masseuse to give a massage every month for 12 months. If you’re an artist, paint your significant other a picture. A poet, write a love poem.

The list goes on and on. You’ll find there are many things you can do to give a gift with the personal touch that will really make her/his Valentine’s Day.

Falzone continued, “Do something original. Cater to the unique desires of your loved one. Whatever you can do to be creative and personalize the day, do it. Valentine’s Day is a time when it’s not about you at all. It should completely revolve around your sweetheart.”

Catering to more than 300,000 members at over 60 locations throughout North America, The Right One, Together Dating and Elove.com are the largest bricks and mortar dating services as well as online hybrid in the industry, offering a more consistent product, a greater number of potentially compatible mates and added value of flexibility in transferring memberships to another geographic region.
