Still in the UEFA Cup, Carling Cup and FA Cup as the Londoners look to reward their fans with some silverwaret. It’s England’s most famous cup competition, the FA Cup, which they focus on this weekend as they head to Wales to face Championship side Cardiff.
Understandably the bookmakers make Martin Jol’s team the favourites to progress at around 4/5 and as short as 4/7 in the match odds, but if you look at his sides domestic away form this term then you might think twice about backing them at that price. So far they have been held by teams like Watford, Blackburn, Villa and Pompey on the road and only managed the one win, with their record reading – P11 W1 D4 L6. For more odds visit WWW.EASYODDS.COM.
Further evidence that might have you thinking twice at those odds is they needed extra-time against Championship bottom side Southend last month in the Carling Cup, which backs up that league positions in these cup competitions can often go out the window.
Cardiff are quite a formidable force in front of their home fans, only tasting defeat once this season – P13 W6 D6 L1. A few months back they were also topping the Championship, but a recent run of draws (last four) has seen them slip down to eighth.
They can be backed at around 4/1 to beat Spurs, which I think could be a tall order, but the 5/2 on offer for the draw with Cardiff’s run of stalemates looks the better option.
Michael Chopra for Cardiff is by far the home sides best chance of a goal having scored twelve league goals already this season and the former Newcastle United striker at 5/2 to score at anytime might be worth a look.
For Spurs Defoe and Berbatov continue to shine up front with twelve and ten goals respectively in all competitions, and both should also be strongly considered when looking at the scoring markets. Both around 5/4 to score.
Of the other betting opportunities, as always when I fancy the draw, the 16/1 available on Half-time - Spurs, Full-time - Draw and Half-time - Cardiff, Full-time – Draw should both be covered at rewarding odds and as long as one of the sides is winning after 45 minutes then you can have a nice run for your money.
