Ortho Evra Skin Patch Contraceptive a Boom for Woman's

Ortho Evra is the first skin patch approved for birth control contraceptive for women. This new sustained contraceptive made available from July 2002.

PRLog (Press Release)Dec 19, 2006 – Ortho Evra is the first skin patch approved for birth control contraceptive for women. This new sustained contraceptive made available from July 2002. Ortho Evra is a birth control patch approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to warn healthcare provider that this product exposes women to higher levels of estrogen than most birth control pills.

Ortho Evra skin patch birth control does not protect against HIV infection (AIDS) and other sexually transmitted diseases, said Jennifer Gomes. It is advised that all women using the Evra patch continue to use barrier methods, like condoms, to protect from these infections.

Ortho Evra is relatively easy to use and especially for the ladies who have difficulty remembering to take birth control pills regularly, said David Samuel. The woman using Ortho Evra skin patch only needs to remember to change it three times a month.

Dr. Pitter James say's that to requiring the minimal maintenance, the patch offer some of the same non-contraceptive benefit found in other hormonal contraceptives like more regular periods, less acne, fewer menstrual cramps, etc.

Ortho Evra patch applied to the skin. Efficacy studies for Evra are ongoing, but initial evidence indicates that it is very effective; with correct usage, every year less than 1% of women using the Evra patch may become pregnant.

The recent survey shows that the use of Ortho Evra has increased because of its easy use, while woman wearing the patch, can maintain their daily activities like bathing, swimming, including exercise, without dislodging the patch. Ortho Evra allows for regular bleeding.

Ortho Evra is effective form of contraception for modern busy woman who have trouble remembering to take a pill daily. However, the patch must be changed on the same day of the week every week for greatest efficacy, said Dr. Mona Fernandez.
