Now through Friday, December 15th, the 6th Annual Great Holiday Food Drive will be raising food and awareness for the hungry here in the Portland-Salem Metropolitan Area with all donations benefiting Oregon Food Bank and Marion Polk Food Share.
This food drive is different than many others as it has over 20 Donation Drop Site Locations around the Portland-Salem Metro Area for participants to go and donate food or money for the hungry. In addition, all donors are eligible to enter the Raffle associated with the Great Holiday Food Drive. Prizes range from a free night's stay at Cannon Beach Ecola Creek Lodge in Cannon Beach to gift certificates, among many other great prizes.
Each Donation Drop Site Location is hosted by a participating Portland-Salem Area Business. The large variety of businesses participating in this event allows donors no matter where they might be in the Portland-Salem Metro Area to participate and donate to the Oregon Food Bank. Many participating businesses are competitors that are working together for the good of our community.
From fitness centers such as 24 Hour Fitness to restaurants such as the Stein Haus in SE Portland, to banks and credit unions such as Sterling Savings and Oregon Community Credit Union, to major supermarkets such as Bales Thriftways, the participating businesses and their corresponding Donation Drop Sites are varied and cover the entire Portland-Salem Metro Area.
This type of large cooperative function is rather rare in the business world, yet shows how local businesses care to get involved in their community and make a difference.
