Only four left now in this year’s instalment of The X Factor, and the way the betting looks they might as well give Leona the £1 million record deal right now.
She is now generally a 1/3 chance in the outright market and after tipping her, to be the first female winner all through the competition, readers of this column should be sitting pretty with only weeks to go. Of the others rocker Ben is around the 9/2 mark, the remaining group The MacDonald Brothers are 10/1, while king of swing Ray is a massive 33/1.
Last week we correctly predicted Eton Road to leave at a very rewarding 4/1, so who will go this time? Well for me there are probably only two that can leave with Leona looking a sure thing, and the MacDonald Brothers seemly having the whole of Scotland on their side, that leaves us with Ben and Ray.
Ray is understandable the favourite to be axed at this late stage at around 4/7 and although a short price he is the selection. Ben at around 13/2 might be worth a very small saver being so big, but he is probably the second best act left and if he doesn’t make it to the final the show will probably not be around next year.
The other bet that I like at this stage is to have small saver on the MacDonald Brothers at 10/1 to win. You might think that sounds a bit crazy and although they probably should have been one of the early acts to go I’ve said week after week they have a huge following and that will stand them in good order when the votes start coming in. The brothers even had a race at Ayr races earlier this week called ‘Vote for the MacDonald Brother Novices’ Handicap Hurdle’; this will also cover you in case there is another ‘Michelle McManus Year’ when people are just voting to annoy Simon Cowell.
Of the other markets, Leona to win and The MacDonald Brothers to come second is interesting in the forecast betting at around 11/4 and for me is a far better option than the 8/11 first Leona second Ben.
