KANSAS CITY, KS – When the Kansas City Steak Company™ put a call out for out-of-the-ordinary steak recipes Rebecca Anderson of Melissa, TX, delivered.
Her recipe for Cilantro-Serrano Pecan Pesto Sauce won First Prize in the company’s first ever national Kansas City Steak Company Spice It Up Contest – and won Rebecca $400 worth of steaks from the Kansas City Steak Company.
The contest, held from June 15 through September 15, attracted recipes from all over the country. Ten finalists were selected by the head chef and staff at Kansas City Steak Company. Those recipes were then prepared and judged on taste, appearance, creativity, originality and overall appeal.
A Grand Prize winner from Denver, CO, joins Rebecca in this year’s win.
Here is Rebecca’s recipe:
CILANTRO – SERRANO PECAN PESTO SAUCE
2 cups tightly packed fresh cilantro leaves
½ cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
¼ cup toasted pecan halves
2 garlic cloves, peeled
1 serrano chili pepper, halved and seeded
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
½ cup olive oil
1 tbsp. fresh lime juice
Place cilantro, parmesan, pecans, garlic, serrano, salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender. Process until all ingredients are chopped fine and mixture is well blended. Next, with processor on, slowly pour olive oil through chute and process until well blended. Stir in lime juice. Serve 2-3 tablespoons on top of each steak.
