In 2000, bio-diesel became the only alternative fuel in United State to have successfully completed the EPA-required Tier I and Tier II health effects testing under the Clean Air Act. These independent tests conclusively demonstrated bio-diesel’s significant reduction of virtually all regulated emissions, and showed bio-diesel does not pose a threat to human health.
In 2001, the Malaysian government used palm oil in power stations and boilers to get rid of excess palm oil stocks in the country and thus, stabilize CPO price. Malaysia is set to be the first country in Asia to implement a mandatory bio-diesel policy.
