Beyond Bougie challenges modern perceptions of race, class, and gender, such as in"I’m Black and I’m Proud," an essay revealing an unmentioned, and seemingly senseless, Black-on-Black discrimination;
“I write about the deep-rooted wrongs that we encounter on a daily basis,” said Jordan. “It’s about recognizing and revealing cultural contrasts wrought by economical, sexual, and ethnic differences that ultimately force one into an outsidership.”
Jordan wrote Beyond Bougie as a call to action, hoping that none of us ever accept less than our full potential. Beyond Bougie is available for purchase at Amazon.com, Borders, BN.com, Forbes Book Club, and other sites.
Jordan is available for discussions, signings, and readings with college/university classrooms, special events and venues, primarily in February 2007 to help celebrate Black History Month.
