FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov 09, 2006 -
NEW YORK, NY—NOVEMBER 7, 2006—Stephen Earley Jordan II’s Beyond Bougie released May 2006, discusses race, social class, and gender issues in creative nonfiction, essays, and poetry.

Beyond Bougie challenges modern perceptions of race, class, and gender, such as in"I’m Black and I’m Proud," an essay revealing an unmentioned, and seemingly senseless, Black-on-Black discrimination; and "The Creation of Fictive Kinship” series, three historical write-ups reflecting on the foundation of Black Americans and specific traditions kept alive. In "Uncle Tom Was Bougie,” Jordan boldly captures the history of self-loathing among Black Americans.

“I write about the deep-rooted wrongs that we encounter on a daily basis,” said Jordan. “It’s about recognizing and revealing cultural contrasts wrought by economical, sexual, and ethnic differences that ultimately force one into an outsidership.”

Jordan wrote Beyond Bougie as a call to action, hoping that none of us ever accept less than our full potential. Beyond Bougie is available for purchase at Amazon.com, Borders, BN.com, Forbes Book Club, and other sites.

Jordan is available for discussions, signings, and readings with college/university classrooms, special events and venues, primarily in February 2007 to help celebrate Black History Month. College and university professors and book clubs can request the “Beyond Bougie Classroom and Book Club Topics for Discussion” to enhance and further discussions.
