Eibfs And IRIS Organize The “Basel 2 And Risk Management Workshop”

Sharjah / Zurich, 2.11.2006 -- The Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) and IRIS integrated risk management ag (Switzerland) jointly organize a workshop about the Basel II Capital Accord requirements for the Middle East region.

The workshop shall provide an update on the latest developments regarding the Basel II Capital Accord and an in-depth analysis on how this framework will impact the region.

The workshop will be addressed by world experts on Basel II issues:
Mr. Jan Nigel Bladen, COO, Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), will speak on “The Essence of Risk Management”.
Mr. M. N. Naveed Siddiqi, Banking Supervisor, Central Bank of the UAE, Dubai, will discuss “Regulators Perspective on Basel II – A Roadmap for Middle East Banks”.
Dr. Ioannis Akkizidis, Consultant, IRIS integrated risk management, Switzerland will tackle the issue of “Integrated Risk Management beyond Basel ll”.
Mr. Jamal Saleh, Head of Risk Management, Commercial Bank of Dubai, will review the risk management issue from a Commercial Bank’s Perspective.
Dr. Hans-Peter Güllich, CEO, RCS, Switzerland, will talk about “Operational Risk”. Dr. Sunil Kumar, Senior Faculty, EIBFS, UAE, will provide an introduction on Risk Management and Basel II.
