PRLog (Press Release) - Oct 29, 2006 -
Singer/Songwriter Miss Amy has a habit of helping children, whether its volunteering her time bringing smiles to the kids and parents at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia through the "Musicians On Call" program, or providing benefit concerts for the United Way where a key focus is on improving school readiness through community change.

In her Barnes & Noble/New Jersey Library Association performances to benefit the statewide summer reading program, Miss Amy’s Musical Story Time has encouraged kids to read while helping raise money through the sale of her CDs. An apropos song from her “Wide Wide World” CD, 'Old MacDonald Had A Vowel Farm', is one of several songs containing early life experiences that Miss Amy sings to help children realize the world around them.

And, at The Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders in NY, Miss Amy’s CDs have been included as part of their pediatric treatment ambiance.

But, November is National Prematurity Awareness Month, and Miss Amy’s latest effort through the March of Dimes is bringing attention to the growing crisis. Everyday 1 in 8 babies born in the US arrives too soon. This happened to Miss Amy’s son, born 10 1/2 weeks premature. But, thanks to research funded by the March of Dimes, today her son is a success story. Premature birth affects almost 500,000 babies each year, and the number has risen 29% since 1981.

"My Precious One", Miss Amy’s 2006 GRAMMY® submission up for nomination in the Best Musical Album For Children category, is now featured as part of the March of Dimes national awareness campaign to fight premature birth.

A review of "My Precious One" appears on the "Moms on the Move" website at http://www.LindaSwain.com under "Review Spotlight". A search of ‘Miss Amy’ on that site will also find an interview of Miss Amy by Linda Swain, creator and star of the recently nationally released "Moms on the Move" TV show airing on ION, HGTV and Food Network.

The proverb that states, “it takes a village to raise a child” certainly applies to the villages and towns where Miss Amy appears according to parents who rave about Miss Amy’s music and the positive impact she has on their children’s lives.
