The idea of starting a group specifically for single mother entrepreneurs came to Naomi Williams, group founder/organizer, after realizing there were no groups in Northern Virginia dedicated to single moms who want to essentially become business owners. "Single moms have different roles and responsibilities and often times do not have the same flexibility or support as a single or married person aspiring to be an entrepreneur, therefore we need our own group, “ says Williams.
The mission of the Northern Virginia Single Mom Entrepreneur Group is to support one another in starting and running a business, discuss ideas, business models and strategies, share services, network and provide mentoring and encouragement to each other.
Any single mother who wants to become a business owner can join the group. That is the only requirement. The group will meet once a month at various location throughout Northern Virginia to discuss a wide array of topics, such as how to formally start a business, writing an effective business plan, marketing your business, keeping good financial records, obtaining funding, etc. The group will also attend business conferences and professional development workshops together.
The Northern Virginia Single Mom Entrepreneur Group is a brand new group and is looking for members.
