Publisher Emap http://www.emap.com has become the latest blue chip media brand to sign a search deal with web search company InfoSpace http://www.infospaceinc.com, which will run across 14 of its sites.
The agreement, which includes sites such as Empire http://www.empireonline.com and FHM http://www.fhm.com, will allow Emap's website users to query all of the major search engines in one click with InfoSpace's metasearch technology.
Dan Cotton, head of internet, Emap Performance comments, "Emap visitors will be able to search the whole of the web from within our sites, thereby greatly enhancing user experience. By enabling users to quickly see and find what they need, we expect to see increased visitor satisfaction and loyalty."
InfoSpace's metasearch technology has established the company as a key player in the web search market. InfoSpace private labels various search products, such as the search box and toolbar for its clients and distributors.
Dominic Trigg, vice president at InfoSpace Web Search explains, "The ground work laid by our business development team in the early part of 2006 is showing such significant results in mainstream media relationships going forward. Emap is a blue chip brand who adds stature to our recent portfolio of client wins. As we continue to offer partners the unique ability to show the best of search in a client branded environment, I am confident of other significant announcements in the coming months."
John Thornhill, business development director at InfoSpace Web Search adds, "Emap is a publisher that excels in both the offline and online worlds. Our search partnership with Emap will help introduce our blended search results to the UK internet user with an audience demographically profiled for each brand environment. We have always worked on the basis that introducing strong search functionality improves the audience experience and thus their propensity to return, so it is exciting to be able to demonstrate this in such a targeted way in the UK market."
