Tunbridge Wells, October 9, 2006 -- Synchronica plc (AIM:SYNC), an international provider of mobile device management and synchronization software has today announced the sale of 12,000 user licences under a reseller agreement with Remote XT from Business Integrated Solutions Limited (BIS). BIS is offering Synchronica's Mobile Manager product, a web based service that remotely manages smartphones, to small and medium enterprises and end users, under the brand Remote XT.
If a mobile is lost or stolen, Remote XT subscribers can use the service to send a message over the air (OTA) to their device, which remotely wipes any data held on the phone and locks the device to prevent unauthorized usage. The option of having the phone emit a high-pitched scream is also available to subscribers of the £9.99 per month service.
All data held on the device, such as phone numbers, text messages and emails, are wiped until the phone is returned to its legitimate owner. Even if the SIM card is replaced on the device, the phone will remain disabled and will continue to emit the high-pitched scream until the battery is removed.
Commenting on the reseller agreement, Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica said, "Using the Remote XT service, crime victims can rest assured that their information is safe from prying eyes. According to industry sources, it takes on average only 30 seconds for someone to notice that their phone is missing, compared to an hour for a wallet or purse. So by using this service, the victim can potentially hear their phone scream in a crowd of people and take action. Given the types of personal and business information now held on phones, it goes without saying that the data is often worth more than the phone itself, so when the victim purchases a new phone, their data can be restored onto the new device."
